Jeffery Lamar Williams, better known by his stage name Young Thug, is an Atlanta based rapper. Williams has been writing and recording music for a long time, but the entertainer got his first taste of fame in 2014 with the commercial debut of his first single – “Stoner.” Since then, the 25 year old musician has been collaborating with big name artists, and his popularity has been steadily growing. Today, he’s worth an estimated $1.5 million, but that number is rapidly increasing.
Williams was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and he is the youngest of his ten siblings. His early days are mostly undocumented, but what we do know is that Williams’ career began in 2011, when he was 20 years old.
Between 2011 and 2013, Young Thug released three mixtapes from his “I came from nothing” series. The tapes eventually caught the attention of Gucci Mane, who also happens to be an Atlanta based rapper. Impressed with his flow and lyricism, Gucci Mane signed the young talent to his own label.
This was a great first step for Williams, as this record deal allowed him to continue making music, while at the same time growing his following. In 2013, some of his music finally started to get the well deserved recognition. Complex, along with several other magazines, have ranked a few Young Thug projects incredibly well.
Not everyone was a fan, though. In 2015, Bill Gates offered the rapper $9,000,000 to stop putting out music. He was quoted saying the following – “I may not be an avid rap listener, but i sure heard Young Thug’s music and instantly went into depression.” Ouch!
In 2014, Young Thug finally got his big break. In January of that year Williams revealed that he was offered $1.5 million to sign to Future’s label, Freebandz. Around that same time, Thug went on to record several hits with Kanye West, Chief Keef, and Rich Homie Quan. These high profile collaborations helped him cement his own name within the hip hop industry.
Needless to say, Young Thug remains active to this day. As his following continues to grow, so does his paycheck. Today, the young rapper is worth a modest $1.5 million, but that figure will at least double within the next couple of years.
In fact, his net worth might already be much higher than the commonly accepted estimate. The reason being, the rapper recently purchased brand new cars and houses for all of his siblings – and considering that he has 10 of them, financing all of that real estate with just $1.5 million seems unlikely.
Despite buying houses for his entire family, Young Thug himself doesn’t own any real estate. Instead, the rapper rents a gorgeous mansion in San Francisco. The 9,000 square foot home is reportedly running up tab of $7,500 a month.
For the price, the rapper is getting 8 freshly renovated rooms, 8.5 bathrooms, a 4 car garage, a movie theater, countless fireplaces, a guest house. On top of all that, the property boasts a fountain and a regulation size tennis court.
In his garage you’ll find a few hot rides, including his favourite car – the Chevy Corvette Stingray Z51 convertible. Young Thug is no stranger to traveling in style, so when he isn’t driving, he’s usually flying on a privately chartered jet.
Although he doesn’t yet own a jet of his own, the rapper is not shy to share pictures of himself flying in one. If you follow him on instagram, then you’re already aware of just how lavish his lifestyle actually is.
The rapper often posts photos and videos of himself wearing diamond encrusted watches, gold chains, and designer clothes. Other popular subjects of his social media posts are beautiful women and stacks of hundred dollar bills.
At the rate his career is going, Young Thug is well on his way to becoming incredibly wealthy. Hopefully the young rapper smartens up, and slows down his run ins with the law.
